چکیده

A 69-year old man underwent ascending aorta grafting and aortic valve replacement for an acute aortic dissection. Nine months later, he suffered from painful ecchymosis and swelling of the sternal wound (Fig. 1). Computed tomography revealed a huge pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta (Fig. 2). Reoperation was successfully performed to repair the anasto-motic suture line tears. Figure 1: Prominent ecchymosis and swelling were noted over the upper half of the sternotomy wound. This area was not pulsatile by palpation, but its size rapidly increased day-by-day. It was quite painful, even without touching. Figure 2: (A) A computed tomography revealed a huge ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm full of blood clots. Contrast extravasation could be easily identified over proximal anastomosis (arrowhead). (B) Although the sternum was stable without obvious malunion, trans-sternal extension of the pressurized blood clots in the pseudoaneurysm resulted in a rapidly expanding subcutaneous haematoma (arrow).

Aortic Pseudo aneurysm 3 Years after Interposition Tube Graft for Acute Dissection of Ascending Aorta

Introduction: Patients with primary acute aortic dissection are at higher risk of complications, including increasing aortic aneurysm diameter, aortic rupture, aortic pseudo aneurysm, and recurrent aortic dissection. Case presentation We presented the case of a recurrent pseudo aneurysm and rupture of the aorta in the distal a...

Surgical Repair of a Pseudoaneurysm of the Ascending Aorta after Previous Aortic Valve Replacement and Aneurysmorrhaphy

We report the case of a patient with a pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta. He was referred to our hospital because of chest pain and dyspnea. A preoperative diagnostic evaluation revealed a large pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta close to the proximal anastomotic site of the graft. During surgery, the pseudoaneurysm originated from an intimal defect in the aortic wall on the right side o...

Surgery for pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta under moderate hypothermia

Pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta is a rare complication after cardiac surgery. Particularly, pseudoaneurysm due to postoperative infection in the ascending aorta requires surgical treatment with antibiotics. If a large sized pseudoaneurysm is located at the retrosternal space, then there is a very high risk of massive bleeding from rupture during performance of resternotomy. To avoid this ...

Diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta by pulsed Doppler cross sectional echocardiography.

Pseudoaneurysms of the ascending aorta are relatively uncommon compared with those evolving from the left ventricle. In a young man with endocarditis of the aortic valve who developed a pseudoaneurysm arising from the ascending aorta, the diagnosis was established with the pulsed Doppler technique and cross sectional echocardiography by passing the Doppler sample from the aorta through the neck...

Klebsiella pneumoniae pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta after coronary artery bypass graft.

Mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta is rare in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and usually caused by staphylococcus aureus. We describe a patient with a mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta at the proximal vein graft anastomosis site after CABG. Culture from the sinus tract of the sternum and from the aneurysm sac was Klebsiella pneumoniae. Surgical te...
